Community Service

Land O’Lakes Quilt Guild is a non-profit dedicated to giving back to the North Texas community. We provide a membership driven forum for quilters and quilt enthusiasts to learn more about the art and history of quilting.   Guild members give back in several different ways.

Quilts for the Rainbow Room

Members work together to provide quilts to the Rainbow Room, an emergency resource center for children entering into foster care. The Rainbow Room provides children with toiletries, clothes, school supplies, and more. It is the goal of the guild that each child entering foster care receives a quilt. Members contribute to the quilts by creating quilt tops, making quilt backs, or quilting and completing quilts. This is a great opportunity to give back to the community while practicing your piecing and quilting skills.

Placemats for Meals on Wheels

Members make placemats which are delivered with meals through the Meals on Wheels program. Join us for a meeting to learn more, or receive the dimensions/patterns.
Meals on Wheels Texas, is a 501(c)(3) association of home-delivered and congregate meal programs established to ensure every older person and individual with a disability in Texas is well nourished and has the social supports they need to age in place with dignity. The association provides education, advocacy and connection to create a unified voice for nutrition providers that improves the lives of older Texans and individuals with disabilities.

Journey to Dream Quilts

Members make twin quilts for teens who are part of Journey to Dream program.
Journey to Dream is a nonprofit in Denton County, Texas that offers comprehensive services for youth navigating the challenging teen years, from the every day to the extraordinary. Their mission is to embrace, equip, and empower homeless, victimized, and at-risk teens to achieve recovery, overcome adversity, and live purposeful lives.

Quilt Guild Ongoing Activities

Block of the Month

The block of the month is the opportunity to practice a new technique, learn a different way of constructing a block, or stepping outside of your comfort zone with a new to you quilt style. Each meeting the Block of the Month is introduced, along with the pattern. Those who are participating have an opportunity to showcase their blocks to be entered into a drawing. At the end of the year members put together their blocks in various formats to showcase their work.
